If you were on a group paddle and had a heart attack and got sent to the hospital....does the trip leader know who your emergency contact is ?
Or, suppose we are out and an unexpected storm comes up and we sit it out for 4 hours and end up returning very late. Would someone in your house be worried when you did not return in timely manner from a paddle and there was a terrible storm during the day?
It is VERY IMPORTANT that your emergeny contact..with both a name AND a phone numbed appears on your profile page.
A trip leaders' float plan should have the name of the participants on the trip..so authorities can be notified if there is an issue. But it is also important that an emergency contact be on file, so the "trusted person" holding the float plan know who to contact if an issue comes up.
Please log in to the club website, go to your profile page, and down at the bottom, there is a spot for your emergency contact name and phone number. Please go check and make sure that is filled out.
Privacy is always important, but the emergency contact issue is a health and safety issue.
