I am still looking for a trip leader for Saturday August 25. I also need a trip leader for Saturday, September 22. The details are below.
The Sep 22 trip was an L3 because we were going to paddle to the front of Botany Bay...in the ocean. It can very easily change to an L1 trip if you paddle to the sandy banks at the end of the creek where it junctures with the Edisto River. So, if you do not feel comfortable leading an L3 trip, as trip leader, you can change the trip and make it into an L1.
In addition....if you do not want to lead these specific trips, if you will lead a trip on either of these days, you can change the trip to one you like. You can let me know what you want to do and I'll help you figure the logistics out. This would be a fun way to help the club and take folks on a trip you personally enjoy. (I'm leaving for Canada and New England in 2 weeks and will not be back for "some time", so I really need you to think about volunteering to lead these two trips or setting up a trip you are willing to lead on either of these two dates.

September 22 (Saturday): Ocella Creek (in Botany Bay Wild Life Management Preserve) to front of Bot
Rating: L3, Open water when in front of Botany Bay,
Logistics: Low tide is about 1:00. Meet at kiosk at Botany Bay (GPS: 1066 Botany Bay Rd, Edisto Island, SC) at 9:45 and proceed to kayak launch by 10:00. Trailers are not permitted!
Trip Leader: TBD
August 25 (Saturday): Buck Hall to Raccoon Key in Bulls Bay loop trip. About 12 miles.
Logistics: Low tide is about 2:00. Meet at Buck Hall Landing (GPS: ½ mile down Buck Hall Landing Rd, McClellanville, SC) at 11:30; launch by noon. Paddlers are encouraged to camp at Buck Hall the night before the trip.
