The new edition of my book, Kayak Charleston: Trips Within an Hour of Charleston arrived from the printer today. It is different from previous editions in that it has the address of each landing, and if a landing does not have an address, it provides the latitude and longitude of the landing. You can enter that data into your smart phone mapping application and find the landing. (It does have directions on how to enter the latitude and longitude).
Each new printing has added additional landings and trips. This one has added the new landing at Bacons Bridge (actually called by government for ease in referring to it as "Ashley River Park: Howard Bridgeman River Access at Bacons Bridge"), Botany Bay, and Live Oak Landing on Big Bay Creek at Edisto Beach.
It will be available at various retail outlets shortly. Time Out in Mt Pleasant will definitely have it by tomorrow.
This is a great present for any paddler, even for those who already have a previous edition. The address for boat landings can help one easily plan how long it will take to get to a landing from their home. Plus everyone needs to go try out Big Bay Creek and Botany Bay.
The book retails for $18.
I plan to be at the club meeting next Monday and I'll have autographed copies readily available a the retail price.
