July 12 (Saturday): Wando River: Paradise Island landing into Frances Marion Forest Loop trip. About 12 miles.
Rating: L2, semi sheltered, smooth pace
Where: Be ready to launch from Paradise Landing by 10:00. Put Paradise Boat Landing in your mapping app.
Logistics: High tide in the forest is about 1:45. We want a lot of water in the narrow section of the river.. We’ll paddle with the tide into the forest until the river becomes too narrow to proceed. We’ll turn back and stop at a “get out place” in the forest that we would have passed on the way upstream for a break. We’ll paddle back against the very last of the incoming tide.
Expect to be back at the landing by 3:00
Trip leader: Zan Gregory
Note 1: Ralph Earhart will hold a “Tide Talk” session from 9-9:30. He will talk about tidal stations, planning trips around the time of the tide change, and river levels after heavy rains. You can read about this topic on pages 44-49 in his Update to the 5th edition via a link on the club’s home page.
Even if you do not plan to paddle, you are welcome to join him at 9AM.
Cuckholds (Folly Creek) Boat Landing

Where: Meet at Cuckolds Creek Landing and be ready to launch by 9:30. Put Cuckolds (Folly Creek) Boat Landing in your mapping app.
Logistics: Low tide at Steel Bridge Landing is about noon. Be ready to launch from Cuckolds Creek Landing by 9:45. We’ll paddle with the tide down to a sandbar on the Combahee River, take a break, and then paddle back with the incoming tide.
Expect to be back at the landing by 2:30
Trip leader: Ralph Earhart

July 26 (Saturday): Limehouse Landing toward Wadmalaw Island About 8 miles.
Rating: L2
Where: Limehouse Boat Landing
Logistics: Launch from grassy area to the left of the boat ramp at 9:30am and paddle the Stono River out towards Wadmalaw Island where the Stono becomes the Wadmalaw River. It is not likely that there will be a place to take out, but we will search for a suitable spot. High tide at Limehouse is 11:40am. We expect to paddle with the current both ways.
